StoryHaus features four kitchens and kitchenettes, along with three flexible indoor dining areas and a spacious outdoor dining deck, giving your group plenty of room to cook, gather, and spread out.
The Main Kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, serving pieces, basic spices, and a full-size refrigerator. The adjacent Coffee Salon is stocked with coffee makers, mugs, glasses, and beverage essentials, making it a favorite place to begin (or end) the day.
The Great Hall Kitchenette provides a convenient sink and counter space, making it the perfect place to set out snacks and drinks during movie nights, game tournaments, or celebrations. The Hideaway Suite features its own charming eat-in kitchen, ideal for quieter mornings while still staying connected to the rest of the group.
Our dining tables were intentionally chosen to be modular and flexible. The Dining Room comfortably seats up to 25 guests, while the tables in the Great Hall can be rearranged into one large project table for puzzles, crafts, strategy games, or marathon rounds of your favorite board games. The Hideaway Suite offers a cozy bar-height table for four and a coffee ledge overlooking the window.
When Alaska's weather invites you outside, enjoy the deck dining table, which seats up to 12 guests. A premium gas grill is located nearby, making it easy to enjoy barbecues and outdoor meals together.
White dinnerware, antique mismatched dishes, serving pieces, glassware, and flatware are provided for your entire group.
We hope many of your favorite StoryHaus memories are made around the table.

Few things feel more like Alaska than gathering around a fire. StoryHaus features five fireplaces, each adding warmth and character to your stay.
For everyone's safety, please never leave a fireplace unattended. Turn off all wood, gas, and electric fireplaces before leaving the room or retiring for the night.
Dining Room Fireplace
Our original antique fireplace is decorative only. Please enjoy it with the provided battery-operated candles. For the safety of the home, please do not burn wood or use real candles in this fireplace.
Great Room Fireplace
The Great Room is home to our highly efficient wood-burning fireplace. Firewood is provided, and a lighter can be found in the kitchen. With a little cardboard, kindling, and carefully placed wood, this fireplace lights easily and quickly becomes the heart of the room.
Hearth Suite Fireplace
The Hearth Suite features a cozy gas fireplace with a bit of personality. It still works beautifully, but it's from an earlier generation, so you'll find simple operating instructions posted beside it. Have a little chuckle as you figure it out! Once the room has warmed, you'll likely want to turn it off—it produces plenty of heat. Even after it's off, the glowing logs continue to create a cozy atmosphere.
Hideaway Suite Fireplace
The Hideaway Suite includes an electric fireplace that provides both ambiance and supplemental heat. Feel free to adjust the fireplace and the baseboard heaters for your comfort.
Cottage Spa Fireplace
The Cottage Spa is warmed primarily by its beautiful thermostat-controlled soapstone gas fireplace. Settle in, relax, and enjoy the warmth while taking in the hillside view.
Safety
Fire blankets are located in the kitchens, and fire extinguishers are placed discreetly throughout the property. For small cooking fires, a fire blanket is often the safest first response -then a careful application of a fire extinguisher aimed directly at the flames. . If a fire cannot be safely contained immediately, evacuate the home, call 911, and then contact us as soon as you are able.
If you experience any issues with a fireplace, stove, or heating system, please let us know right away so we can address it promptly.

StoryHaus is tucked into a quiet cul-de-sac with parking for up to 10 vehicles on the property. The MainHaus and Hideaway Suite each have their own entrances, while the Cottage Spa sits just a few steps away in its own charming building.
The grounds were designed to invite you outdoors. Lawns surround three sides of the home, while expansive decks wrap nearly half of the house. Enjoy outdoor dining for up to 12 guests, comfortable seating areas, and easy access to the premium gas grill.
Just outside the Great Hall and Dining Room, you'll find the play yard, complete with a trampoline, swings, slide, and climbing wall—making it a favorite gathering place for families.
A short walk beyond the house leads to a grassy meadow surrounded by trees where you'll find a peaceful gravel sitting area nestled among towering cathedral-like trees. It's one of our favorite places to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee or tea and take in the beauty of Alaska.
StoryHaus is located in a residential neighborhood. While there is a neighboring home to the left, mature landscaping and fencing provide privacy, and you'll find the property to be peaceful throughout your stay.

One of the things we love most about StoryHaus is that it's full of little surprises.
Some you'll notice immediately. Others may take a day—or perhaps your kids will discover them before you do.
As you explore, keep an eye out for a few favorites:
📚 The Library Murphy Bed
Behind the Mount McKinley artwork is one of StoryHaus's hidden bedrooms. Even if you don't need the extra bed, it's worth taking a peek. The artwork itself is signed by Alaska's First Ladies and has its own story to tell.
🚪 The Hidden Playroom
Somewhere in StoryHaus is a playroom that feels a little like Narnia. We won't tell you exactly where it is...half the fun is discovering it. Inside you'll find a play kitchen, toys, books, and a cozy place for little imaginations to run wild.
🪵 Bespoke Details
Many pieces throughout StoryHaus were custom built specifically for this home—from towering bookcases to handcrafted furniture and little design surprises tucked throughout the property.
🎲 The Great Hall
The tables aren't just for meals. Rearrange them into one giant surface for puzzles, crafts, tournaments, or the longest game of Risk you've ever played.
🌿 Explore
Take a walk through the meadow, wander the decks, or simply slow down enough to notice the little details. StoryHaus rewards curious people.
Coming Soon...

We've been working hard to finish the Cottage Spa a year ahead of schedule so our first guests can enjoy it.
We're giving it everything we've got, but we also want to make sure every system is working exactly as it should before opening the doors.
With a little luck—and a lot of late nights—we're hoping it'll be ready just in time for your stay. 🤞
